Invent a holiday! Explain how and why everyone should celebrate.
Shouldn’t everyone be off work to celebrate their birthday? Oh I bloody love birthdays…
Every year- without fail- I schedule time off work to mark another year of me. It’s self indulgent, sure, but I firmly believe in really throwing myself into the fun of celebrating ME.
Why should kids have all the fun? And why should we accept losing that birthday magic as we get older. It’s boring, unimaginative and frankly, we’re in dire need of more of all the good stuff kids cultivate.
I usually have a few things planned or booked. A weekend away, dinner with my closest friends, a shopping trip, cinema trip and other little treats. These can be ordering pizza, a long bubble bath or going for a hot chocolate with my husband.
Start a birthday list of all the things you’d like to do on your Birthday Week. And encourage others to do the same! Think of ideas to celebrate family and friends even more than you already do. This can be as small as have a cosy day reading and another day you want to have lunch with a friend. When you start planning fun things, you start feeling more fun and as if by magic, your life starts to be different. You will be different and watch the change in those around you too.. You’re happier and so those closest to you will feel happier too. Spread some birthday magic.
