The leaves are falling, the pumpkin spice adverts have begun…it can only mean one thing. My favourite time of the year has arrived.
I’ve already began to affectionately call September the other January as it provides much newness and excitement with the start of the academic year but most of all- the best celebrations of the year. Most of my family, including myself have birthdays between September and March. I’m a self professed birthday princess and i make no apologies for this. Aging is a privilege isn’t it? Kate Bowler was right. And so aging should always be celebrated. Surely more so as we age because “we’re still here, can you believe it?”
Then there’s Halloween which gains more momentum each year in the household of a young child who seems to enjoy this time as much as Christmas! A great reason to dress up and bake stuff. What’s not to love?
in our house, much like the Carey house I’d imagine, Christmas time starts the minute the Halloween decor is away. The plans, the excitement and general stuff to look forward to is what really makes it magic for us. Thinking of what gifts to buy and make, watching festive movies, being cosy inside together, baking festive treats…The reminder that a little imagination goes a long way… Christmas provokes creativity for me.
Subscribe if you want to hear some more winter musings and brain emptying. Haha.
